Employing new tech to disclose the 3D structure of DNA in maturing men reproductive cells, researchers disclosed an essential period in development that assists clarify how fathers convey genetic data to their kids.
The period was captured at the time of a stage of development for male sperm dubbed meiosis. This is when germ cells (reproductive cells) are developing into sperm that can fertilize a female egg, laying the basis to make all the cells of a kid. Posting their results in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s reproductive biologists claim that nature makes the 3D structure of DNA prior to packaging it into sperm.
By the time the germ cells really turn fertile sperm, the genetic content is tightly set. The hereditary material of the male germ cell has correct 3D structure in the nucleus (genetic control center of the cell).
On a related note, new study has established that adolescent obesity can lead to almost four-fold elevated jeopardy of pancreatic cancer later on. The research’s findings also recommend that overweight in men might augment jeopardy of pancreatic cancer in a graded way. The results are posted online in CANCER—American Cancer Society’s peer-evaluated journal.
Pancreatic cancer is the 6th most common reason of cancer-associated deaths all over globe, and researches have connected adult obesity with an elevated jeopardy for its occurrence.
